Doughnut World Stories
This open-source storytelling tool was created in collaboration with Karyn Zuidinga of NextWAVE Innovation with the help of a group of futurists, designers, economic, environmentalists, artists and storytellers. The goal of the project is to help general audiences better envision the positive ramifications of a future where the alternative economic model, Doughnut Economics, has become mainstream. The project was co-sponsored by the Design Futures Initiative. Doughnut World Stories is freely available for use under a Creative Commons license.

Peace Games
Nonprofit N Square Collective commissioned this futures game to help make the highly specialized language of nuclear disarmament accessible to a generation largely unaware of the nuclear arms race. I worked with leading experts in the disarmament field to turn a future scenario into a game about nuclear escalation featuring a conflict between Russia and the United States. The game gave players agency to act toward peace or war.
In 2022, it feels frighteningly prescient.
Healthy Community
A collaborative story workshop created for the Liminus Foundation and the Newfoundland Health Authority gave participants the opportunity to imagine a public health service that combines the best of future technology and personalized caregiving.
Hope We’re Still Here
Hope We’re Still Here is a public participation foresight project created in collaboration with artist Nick Farrantello. It poses the question, Is it possible to imagine a future where tourism helps both people and the planet thrive?
Elements include a series of climate change scenarios for Florida in 2050 and a set of postcards promoting future tourism businesses. Participants select a postcard and write about their imaginary visit.
We have used the project as the basis for workshops organized by Orlando Speculative Futures and The Rosen College of Hospitality Management at UCF.
We’re actively looking for collaborators to help us expand this project to include other destinations.
