What comes AfterAmerica? A wandering podcaster visits alternative communities that are reimagining life amongst the chaos left by the collapse of the United States of America. Could these experiments in local governance be the answer to the challenges of political polarization, cultural upheaval and economic disparity?

A story told in five postcards from the future. Florida, a state where tourism is a leading economic driver, is also ground zero for official climate denial. Refusing to act won’t stop the rising seas, water shortages, and superstorms. By mid-century, Florida’s sunny appeal may be a faded memory. But Florida’s tourism hypesters have always been a resourceful lot. The hardiest of them will still manufacture postcard-perfect panoramas worthy of Instagram, even as the state sinks into the sea.
